In the period of 2-8 of December 2015 the University of Academy of Sciences of Moldova was visited by dr. Isgouhi Kaloshian, professor of the Department of Genetics and nematology, University of California, Riverside, USA.
Professor Kaloshean, a famous personality in the academic community, was invited by Rector of University in order to organize a range of activities intended to develop research excellence.
The workshop "Techniques of RAPD marker transformation into SCAR marker" for UnASM graduates and researchers included a series of molecular biology practical and theoretical lessons, focused especially on gaining skills for cloning DNA fragments and obtaining specific markers.
During the visit were organized several roundtables, where the main subjects was addressed to the application of modern techniques to elucidate the  interaction mechanisms between sunflower and devastating phytopathogen broomrape, and to expand the cooperation with University of California - Riverside.
Students and Master students had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the latest information concerning mechanisms of plant resistance to pathogens, present at the public lecture " Unraveling how aphids and associated microbes modulate plant immunity” " presented by professor Kaloshian.
Mrs. Professor displacement in Moldova included also visits to research and education institutions, as well as meetings with distinguished scientists.
Ms. Kaloshian visited the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, where he had a conversation with President of ASM, Acad. Gheorghe Duca about the possibilities of the University of California collaboration with research Institutes of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, ways to promote research and educational performance, opportunities for research funding.
The visit was realized under the project UnASM - European Research Infrastructure Association  in biology, funded by the European Commission under Grant Agreement "Financial support for Moldova's participation in the European Union's Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, Horizon 2020”
