The content of the study programs is established by the Curriculum, elaborated and updated according to the requirements of the Provisional Framework Plan, for the 1st cycle of the Bachelor’s degree program (The METS decree of the Republic of Moldova, nr. 222 from 01.07.2005), of the Framework Plan for higher education (The MET decree of the Republic of Moldova, nr. 455 from 03.06.2011), of the Framework Regulation regarding the holding of the final exam upon completion of the Bachelor studies, 1st cycle (The MET decree of the Republic of Moldova, nr.14 from 15.02.2008), of the Regulation regarding the organization of higher education studies based on the National System of Study Credits (The ME decree nr. 727 from 20.09.2010), of the Nomenclator of areas of professional formation and specialties for staff training in higher education institutions, 1st cycle (Law nr. 142-XVI from 7 July 2005) and approved by the Senate of The University of The Academy of Sciences of Moldova and by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova. The Curriculum ensures the optimal balance and integration of compulsory and optional disciplines for theoretical training (lectures), activities for gaining practical skills (seminars, laboratory works and internships in research centers), offering the student the possibility to freely choose the individual academic track, which has to be accomplished during the studies. Course units of the fundamental component (code F), those related to the formation of general skills (code G) and social-humanitarian skills (code U) form the trunk of the compulsory training program (code O) in the formation of the specialist. The professional identity of the student is ensured by the orientation towards a certain specialty (Code S), with both compulsory and optional subjects (Code A). Optional disciplines, due to their variety and interdisciplinarity, ensure different academic tracks, consisting of course units which are defined by: educational category, semester, type, order in the study program. For example: S.02.O.012 is a discipline of specialization, which is studied in the 2nd semester, is compulsory, is part of the main study trunk, and its order number in the Curriculum is 12. Depending on the personal preferences of professional development and employment perspectives/ outlook, the student can define his own direction within the limits of the available educational proposal, respecting the share of optional course units in the study year: 10-15 credits (2nd year) and 35-40 credits (3rd year). Studying the freely chosen courses is scheduled for the entire period of professional development in an amount not exceeding 10% of the total hours and it is carried in parallel, outside of the basic study program. Additional credits to the total number are offered, for optional course units. This is reflected in the Diploma Supplement issued to the graduate.
