The Chairman of the International Association of sunflower, Professor Yalçin KAYA - Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Academy of Science of Moldova

On May 1, 2014, the Festive Session of the Senate of University of Academy of Science of Moldova for awarding the insignia of Doctor Honoris Causa of UNASM to Mr. Yalçin KAYA, university lecturer, Doctor in biology, chairman of International Association of Sunflower, Deputy Director of University of Trakya, Turkey, director of Research Center in the area of phytotechny.
The ceremony was attended by the leadership of the University of Academy of Science, rector of University of (Turkey), Mr. Yener YÖRÜK, professor, Doctor in Medical Sciences, academicians, directors of Institutes of ASM, representatives of the academic environment of Republic of Moldova, members of the Senate of UnASM, PhD students.
The Honorary Title was awarded to professor KAYA via the unanimous decree of the Senate dated December 16, 2013 for the remarkable results in research and science development, for the contribution in extending the knowledge in the area of farming sciences and biology as well as for extending and strengthening scientific Moldovan and Turkey relations.
The festive ceremony was chaired by the Academician Maria Duca, Rector of UnASM, who has emphasized the great honour to receive the honorable guest into the community of University of Academy of Science. The traditional Laudatio was delivered by Mr. Alexandru AVDEEV, PhD student, Head of Section for International Relations and Informatization of UnASM. On the background of applauses of the attendees, the university lecturer, Dr YalcinKAYA was awarded Certificate, the diploma, the robe and toque for Doctor Honoris Causa of the Academy of Science.
In Oratio Gratitudinis, the new Doctor Honoris Causa of UnASM, Yalçin KAYA, has expressed his gratitude to the whole team of UnASM, to the researchers, and the attendees for the high distinction and the appreciation given.
As part of the event, a contract for cooperation was signed between the University of Academy of Science of Moldova and the University of Trakya, which provides for participation in joint bilateral and multilateral projects as well as promoting mobility of students, master’s degree students, PhD students and academic staff, including via the program MELVANA, offered by the Turkish party (http://mevlana-en.trakya.edu.tr/pages/about-mevlana#.U2dvp4GSyxo).
The ceremony occurred in a warm atmosphere of a special cordiality.
