Upon graduating, the graduate students shall acquire: General skills

apply some scientific explanatory methods to the interpretation of linguistic and literary phenomena;
evaluate the quality of scientific information, based on the sources and methods that have generated it, in the context of evolution of humankind;
able to manage the research and the project;

develop skills to document, edit, publish a paper, as well as scientific communication;
ability to be connected to and make progress in the networks and work environments by using the up-to-date media provided by ICT;
develop the capacity to add value to the results of research by innovation and technological transfer;

Specific skills
analyze the areas of research of contemporary philology and determine a direction in which to get specialized;
describe the main methods and procedures used in the methodology of linguistic and literary research;
learn the methodology of drafting a philological exegesis;
analyze from a scientific standpoint the theoretical and applicative issues of linguistics and literature with application into the Romanian language and literature, English/French languages;
analyze phonetic phenomena, lexical phenomena, grammar and literary phenomena in the languages and literature studied, on synchronic and diachronic levels;
efficiently synthesize the data in order to develop new ideas for research;
communicate using a specialized scientific language;
apply knowledge acquired in the development of ideas, concepts and models;
draft texts in the English language that would be correct from a stylistic and grammar point of view;
design research projects on issues related to theoretical linguistics and literature, particular, compared;
use information from reference works and the personal outputs (theoretical ideas and practical results) so as to draft a degree paper that would meet the requirements.
