Upon graduation of Cycle I, the graduate of the Department for Environment shall acquire the following general skills:

• knowledge of basic notions and laws of ecology;
• structures and interactions within the terrestrial biosphere;
• knowledge of modern-day achievements and prospects for development as related to this area;
• environmental research methods (biotesting, biomonitoring etc.);
• conservation strategies and sustainable management of biological resources.

Specific skills:

• applying theoretical knowledge and experimental skills to case studies related to environment protection;
• identifying and recommending solutions for environment issues; collect and interpret relevant data related to the field of environment protection;
• develop and plan various experiments under lab conditions and in the field;
• apply the methods of environmental analysis on the job;
• identify polluting sources and applying methods for prevention and fighting;
• identify issues related to the wildlife biodiversity and providing suggestions on solutions for their preservation.

Upon completion of Cycle I, the graduate of specialty Geography will acquire the following general skills in:

• knowledge of basic notions and basic laws of geography;
• knowledge of basic theory of geographical sciences and of applied fields of geography;
• structures and interactions within the biosphere;
• achievements, modern-day trends and prospects for development of geography;
• conservation strategies and sustainable development strategies and natural resources;
• highlight main directions for development of contemporary geography.

Specific skills:

• apply theoretical knowledge and skills related to experiments for case studies in the field of geography;
• identify and recommend solutions for geographical issues;
• collect and interpret relevant data in the area of geography;
• develop and plan various experiments under conditions of laboratory and field conditions;
• apply methods of geographical analysis in professional work;
• analyze states and regional groups of state;
• interpret current issues of political geography.

Upon graduating Cycle II, the graduate will acquire the following general skills:

• evaluate knowledge acquired before using it for a certain goal;
• self-evaluate his/her own achievements in the area of Environmental sciences;
• perform research in the field and in the lab;
• evaluate the importance of accomplishments of Environmental sciences for society;
• apply ICT;
• communicate the outputs of research on environment by the specialists to other specialists from other fields.

Specific skills:

• anticipate the main directions of evaluation of status of environment components;
• justify the use of Geographic Informational Systems in the area;
• design and perform scientific research projects in the field;
• make suggestions with regard to solving some environmental issues;
• establish priorities of interdisciplinary studies in scientific research;
• identify methods suitable for research objectives;
• adjust scientific achievements from other areas to Environment Sciences;
• implement innovations in the field of Environmental Sciences;
• interpret concepts on environment with a view to perform their own papers;
• use modern day technologies in professional work.
