Cycle I (Bachelor degree)
The general area of study (code and title) - 44 Exact Sciences
Area for professional training - 442 Chemistry
Specialty – 442.1 Chemistry
The total number of study credits – 180
The title obtained – Bachelor of science
The Syllabus for the Chemistry Major is oriented towards training specialists in this given area. In order to achieve this goal students are trained via the general subjects (foreign language, written and verbal communication techniques, ICT etc.), basic subjects (inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, colloidal chemistry, ecological chemistry etc.) and specialty subjects (chemical synthesis, chemical technology, environmental hygiene, biochemistry, food chemistry, hydro-chemistry, coordination chemistry, estimation of technological waste etc.). The internships carried out within the labs of the Chemistry Institute under the Academy of Sciences of Moldova and other institutes related to this area within which famous scientific schools carry out their activities and which are endowed with scientific resources necessary to perform the investigations that meet the modern requirements, are also targeted towards that goal.
General area of study – 44 Exact sciences
area for professional training – 441 Physics
Specialty – 441.1 Physics
Total number of study credits – 180
The title obtained – Bachelor of Science
Within the Physics specialty, staff highly qualified for the area of theoretical physics and physics of materials (semi-conductors, semi-metals, nanomaterials, coatings, processing technologies). The training program covers general modules such as (foreign languages, written and verbal communication techniques, ICT etc.), basic modules (classic mechanics, molecular physics and thermodynamics, theoretical mechanics, atomic and nuclear physics, quantum mechanics, quantum theory of the solid, etc.) and specialty subjects (electricity and magnetism, optics, basics of physics of continuous media, energy conversion, thermodynamics, solid state physics etc.) with a view to train researchers who are able to work within the scientific labs under the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, research labs from various universities, as part of research teams within certain scientific projects financed with grants, etc. The graduates will be able to work as teachers of physics upon completion of module of psychology and teaching methodology.
Cycle II (master)
General area of study (code and title) – 44 Exact sciences
Master’s program (title) - Chemistry (MC)
Total number of study credits – 120
Title obtained – Master of science
The master’s program is designed for those who hold a higher education degree and is aiming at extending theoretical knowledge and improving the practical skills that were acquired during the first cycle of studies. The Master’s program covers the basic modules (physical methods of research in chemistry, bio-inorganic chemistry, fine organic synthesis, chemistry of terpenoids, carbon and mineral absorbents, modeling of chemical processes in aquatic systems, complex chemistry balances within multi-component systems, intellectual property security) and special modules (nanocomposite, supramolecular chemistry, thermodynamics and kinetics of ecological systems, transition metal chemistry, applying the theory of groups in chemistry). The program provides for the opportunity to specialize in a subject, to acquire complementary skills from other areas, offers additional opportunities for employment, from other fields, areas ensures specialization. The Master’s program represents a mandatory preparation step for the PhD program.
General area of study (code and title) – 44 Exact sciences
Master’s program (title) - Physics
Total number of study credits – 120
Title obtained – Master of Science
The above-mentioned program is a Master’s program for research. It is designated to extend the theoretical knowledge in the area of exact sciences, the basic knowledge of which was acquired during the Cycle I, also it aims at extending the knowledge of modern techniques for study, etc. The Master’s program covers basic modules (security of intellectual knowledge, crystallography, optoelectronic materials, optoelectronic devices, the low dimensional physical systems, quantum electronics and nonlinear optics, electro physics and energy, electrochemistry materials, the electrochemical machining of materials) and special modules (physical programming, energy security, semi-conductor technology, cryogenics, superconductivity). The process of training of specialists is brought in line with modern trends, thus a significant effort is made to provide modern research media and methods. For this purpose, the teaching resources of the Institutes in this area of study are applied efficiently. The pillars of quality professional training consist in developing skills to work with devices and research materials, interpretation of results received.
