Competencies

Upon completion of Cycle I of studies graduates will obtain the following competences:
General competences:

  • acquiring knowledge of fundamental biological processes and phenomena
  • application of the methods of study and analysis of biological processes and phenomena
  • developing strategies for genetic resources conservation and protection
  • acquiring knowledge of modern biotechnology methods and perspectives
  • using biological databases and bioinformatics programs
  • modeling various biological processes and proposing hypothetical models
  • developing and planning various experiments in the laboratory and field

Molecular Biology specialty specific competencies:

  • applying modern research methods to solving practical problems
  • development and implementation of strategies for the evaluation of research activity
  • using various forms and techniques for the evaluation of professional activity
  • applying the results obtained in research design
  • identifying and explaining the emergence of various biological phenomena
  • applying legislation on biosafety in laboratory activities

Biology specialty specific competencies:

  • development and implementation of strategies for the evaluation of research activity in the field
  • applying the results obtained in research design
  • identifying and explaining various biological phenomena
  • applying modern research methods to solving practical problems
  • modeling biological processes and proposing hypothetical models
  • developing and planning experiments in the laboratory and field
  • applying legislation on biosafety during laboratory activities
  • identifying issues related to plant and animal biodiversity and proposing conservation solutions

Upon completion of Cycle II studies graduates will obtain the following competences:

General competences:

  • performance self-assessment in the field of Biology and Molecular Biology
  • conducting experimental activities for the promotion and transfer of obtained results to various sectors  
  • application of information technologies in molecular research
  • evaluation of obtained knowledge for application in problem solving
  • application of information technologies in research at population level
  • analyzing and comparing the results with existing data in different databases

Master’s in Molecular Biology program specific competences:

  • identifying the main directions for the evaluation and development of Molecular Biology as a science
  • justifying the use of a certain methodology in the study of Molecular Biology
  • practical application of innovations in the field
  • establishing interdisciplinary study priorities in scientific research  
  • proposal/realization of research projects, demonstrating a high degree of autonomy

Master’s in Biology program specific competences:

  • identifying the main directions for the evaluation and development of Biology as a science
  • justifying the use of a certain methodology in the study of Biology
  • research, design, and implementation of biology projects providing social solutions
  • establishing interdisciplinary study priorities in scientific research
